Story Transformation
Story Transformation
December 19, 2023
“Every word I’ve ever spoken is tainted… and the people I live with talk the same way, using words that corrupt and desecrate.” (Isaiah 6:7)
What stories are you telling yourself?
If you’re like most people in modern, western society your stories are laced with negativity.
Spoken words matter! They sculpt our realities, regardless of whether they are true or false their impact is real.
Through the lens of our framework the transformational journey starts with discovery.
We have to fully appreciate the stories we tell ourselves and their influence on our lives before we can move forward in a positive way.
All transformations begin with story transformation.
Negative self-talk is detrimental to our journey for multiple reasons; it stresses us out, it decreases the likelihood of capitalizing on opportunities, and it limits our potential.
Studies have found that these effects are largely due to the fact that our reality alters to create an experience where we don’t have the ability to achieve the aspirations we have for ourselves.
This starts with perception, but quickly morphs into behavior.
The more you tell yourself something, the more you believe it!
Healthy ambition is a necessity in life.
There are things you aren’t doing that you should be doing.
Things that are specific to you but in doing them will serve to benefit many.
Ambition is how we keep an affinity for actualizing our full potential.
Negative stories are a modern version of the tainted, corrupt, and desecrating words the prophet was acknowledging in this scripture.
These struggles aren’t new, this isn’t a “you problem”, these are the realities of our existences.
We must overcome these forces by living On Purpose in both thought and action.
Acknowledge your thoughts.
Hold onto the ones that align with the transformation story you’re trying to tell.
Let go of the ones that are tainting your story.
