Highways In The Sea
Highways In The Sea
June 13, 2023
“Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night and made the sea into dry land..” (Exodus 14:21)
How do you know if you are living by faith?
You are purposefully pursuing a dream. A dream that you cannot fully fulfill on your own.
Great faith inspires great dreams.
Great dreams require great faith.
In many ways, the dream you have in your life is evidence of the faith you have in your life.
What does the dream look like for you?
If you are able to plan, optimize, execute and orchestrate every detail on the path toward your dream, is it really a dream?
If it doesn’t require faith, is it really dream worthy?
To me, an authentic dream insinuates some sense that you can’t accomplish it on your own. It is a vision that prompts action. A vision that requires a lot of hard work but more importantly a lot of faith.
There’s always going to be waters you can’t part on your own.
There’s always going to be something you can’t optimize on your own.
We can’t control everything.
How do you know if you are living by faith?
You are purposefully pursuing a dream.
But what does pursuing a dream actually feel like?
I think it feels like wet socks.
I love the story of Moses parting the Red Sea. There’s no way that man didn’t need a change of socks after walking through that. Not because God came through with some sort of half-baked miracle. Dry land is dry. Walking on the highway in the sea didn’t make Moses’ socks wet.
His socks were wet because he was standing on the edge of the water BEFORE the sea was parted.
He was right at the edge of the shore. Full anticipation of what God was going to do. Full of faith.
Are your socks wet?
Are you at the edge of what you can do on your own and what God needs to do through you?
Do not leave the shore.
What a shame it would have been for the waters to part, and yet Moses had drifted miles inland.
Thankfully instead, he was right at the water's edge. Waves crashing on his Jordans.
On purpose living is living in eager anticipation for the highways in the sea to open up. It’s a posture of controlling ALL within our control, and then… trusting by faith, that everything else out of our control will be handled by the one who gave the dream in the first place.
Hope your socks are wet this week.
Soaking wet socks.
The most comforting wet socks in human history.
