Regardless of Position
Regardless of Position

“It’s not the one who plants or the one who waters who is at the center of the process, but God, who makes things grow” (1 Corinthians 3:8)
If you are like me you have probably at one point in your life thought, “Now I’m in a position to make a real meaningful impact!”
For most of my life I’ve limited my potential to my position. I was looking everywhere but inward to find potential.
I allowed myself to succumb to society’s view of success.
Success was material, it had to come in some external form and in the context of this reflection that form was position.
We’ve all been there!
Scouring the job boards or undergraduate majors meticulously looking for the position with the best growth potential. As if the position is the most important variable in this equation.
We’ve put the position at the center of the process, allowing it to become our primary ambition, which is the exact opposite of what we’ve been called to do.
The position we hold will never be anything more than one of many present opportunities to cultivate our potential.
Our position is always just a temporary part of the process, not the primary focus. Shifting to this mindset makes it apparent our potential will always transcend the position we’re in.
There is not a position in the world adequate enough to demand all the untapped potential God’s gifted us with, but every position in the world is adequate enough to assist in the process of moving us closer towards our potential.
Focusing on “How” we work, regardless of position, is how we keep God at the center of the process, and in doing so we’ll grow into our fullest potential.
