A Formula For Character Development
Read Time: 4 minutes
In this issue, we’re going to demystify the process of character development by sharing a formula we stumbled across, in this article, when researching the difference between states and traits.
Character development is foundational to leadership development. Yet, it often takes a back seat to other aspects of leadership development. Conventional approaches to leadership development have us chasing certifications in popular management systems like Lean Six Sigma, or soft skill systems like Crucial Conversations.
Alternatively, we settle for a much more passive approach to developing our character strengths.
At STC, we advocate for taking the same systematic approach to our character development as we do with these other endeavors.
Character Development Makes Living Easier
Life is hard enough as it is. We don’t need to make it harder by neglecting this important aspect of our development. Better understanding your character will almost always make navigating life easier in some sense. Our character guides us.
When we’re intentional about character development our intentions flow more naturally, our impact feels more authentic, our sense of purpose becomes stronger, and our passion grows more intense.
Now that we settled how important fully-developed character is, let’s talk about how to get up close and personal with yours.
