Deflating Reality
October 10, 2023
“Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your heart” (Deuteronomy 6:9)
How do you feel when you read this?
There was a time when acknowledging this scripture was a deflating reality.
It just seemed like hard work, which it is, but at the time hard work, specifically this type of hard work, was not something I was interested in.
“Give me what I want, but make it quick and easy!” was the mantra.
My misconception of hard work stemmed from the fact that I had been spending most my life doing things to please or impress everyone except God.
Which always resulted in doing work I wasn’t called to do. All work felt harder than it should have been.
Eventually, I started focusing on God and doing things that I felt he had designed me to do, and miraculously hard work took on an entirely different meaning.
It was a blessing!
An enjoyable means to learn more about myself, grow my relationship with God, and have a positive impact on those around me.
Now I read this statement and it excites me.
I’m eager to put this work in because I know I was built for it and doing work we’re built for is an uplifting reality.
