But If You Say So
Scripture
“Master, we’ve been fishing hard all night and haven’t even a minnow. But if you say so, I’ll let out the nets…” Luke 5:5
Thought
At some point the things we are pursuing become a matter of obedience. For a transformational leader who has done the deep work and frequently rests in the secret place, their action steps become crystal clear.
There are times where we don’t need any new strategy. No new ideas or concepts or guides. For certain seasons we know exactly what we need to do and why we need to do it.
While it can be tempting to go searching for another confirmation or voice, a transformational leader knows it’s just a form of delaying what we already know. A stall tactic really, to not have to face the music.
What is it you know you need to do? Even though you may have given it a try before, are you being asked to give it a go again? Why the delay? Why the dragging your feet?
It can be easy to drag our feet because we think we know what the outcome will be based on past experience. But it’s never been about outcomes in the first place - it’s about obedience.
As transformational leaders, we know the outcome isn’t ours. We’ve released the outcomes and are committed to the process. We’ve released the results and are committed to obedience.
We work like it depends on us and pray like it depends on God. The outcomes are on God. The obedience is on us.
“If you say so, I’ll let out the nets.”
