Advice for Rapid Improvement - The Better, Faster Formula

Life is hard, but we have a tendency to make it harder because of our bias towards complexity.

Getting better, at most things, is not nearly as complicated as the internet will lead you to believe.

In this issue, I’m going to keep it short and sweet, sharing a very simple approach to getting better, faster.

It is so simple that most of you won’t take it seriously enough to implement. But, some of you will and I guarantee you’ll level up in whatever game you’re playing these days.

“Better, Faster” Formula:

Focus + Daily Action + Feedback = Better, Faster

Focus = One specific objective. One objective at a time, this type of clarity will eliminate the overwhelming distractions we face every day.

Daily Action = Consistent specific effort. Consistency beats intensity, daily action is more important than impressive infrequent actions.

Feedback = Timely specific evaluations. Feedback is crucial, be receptive, small adjustments lead to big improvements over time.

Keep It Simple

All things being equal, the simplest solution is often the best.

Simplifying takes effort! Simplifying takes time!

What will be the final expression of your training? Train for that, specifically! Focus on the inputs, the controllables.

Know what you’re trying to develop, take action, and then evaluate it.

The core message is, more is not always better, but better is always better. Aim to be a little better than yesterday.

Focus on one thing, train a little bit every day, track your progress, learn as you go, and you’ll get better, faster.
