Scripture
“They found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.” (Luke 2:46)
Thought
Leaders are learners!
Transformational leaders are at their core, life-long learners. Learning is ingrained in the DNA of a transformational leader. Learning is a lifestyle for them.
In recent years the world has become enamored with thought leadership, particularly in the virtual space where becoming a social media “influencer” has moved to the top of the list for most desirable professions.
Everyone wants to be in a position of authority, but they want to skip the apprenticeship. Being a protégé is no longer something most people get excited about. We don’t honor the learning experience anymore, we merely tolerate it anxiously looking forward to the next phase.
Notice that Jesus wasn’t just talking and answering. Instead he was listening and asking questions in his early years.
Good leaders ask great questions.
Jesus became the most influential leader of all time by maintaining a learner’s mentality throughout his life.
He understood the importance of learning on his path to becoming a person of impact.
