Tremendous Courage
June 20, 2023
“When you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed” (Jeremiah 29:13)
Our maker has assured us that if we search for him seriously we won’t be disappointed.
Do we really need any more incentive than this?
Prior to making this promise God’s message to the people of Babylon was to make themselves at home and work for the country’s welfare.
These folks weren’t well established. They didn’t have strong networks or clear advantages.
From their perspective, their future trajectory was far from promising and there were plenty of people trying to lure them off their path with more appealing (false) promises.
I imagine it took tremendous courage for them to keep their faith, lay their roots in Babylon, work selflessly in service of their country, and trust that in doing so they would experience an uplifting in their well-being.
Is this not the same story we’re all living out today?
Constantly wrestling with Drift on questions like;
What should we be doing?
Where should we be doing it?
How should we go about doing it to maximize our personal gains?
Ultimately we need to decide whether we’re going to look out for ourselves by chasing transactions that serve to benefit us the most or choose to play the long game and allow God to transform us through each faithful act of service aimed at bettering the communities in which we’ve been planted.
