Run To Win
November 14, 2023
“You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win.” (1 Corinthians 9:24)
It is wise to determine where you want your life to go. It is wise to clearly define your win. If you don’t define your win, you will settle for someone else’s win.
What is your win anyway?
Have you defined it?
Dr. Gail Matthews, a researcher and professor at Dominican University reports that people who write down their goals are significantly more likely to achieve them. Her research also states that people who write down their goals and tell a friend increase their likelihood even more.
It’s not hard to see how this phenomenon is true.
You cannot do what you don’t define.
Aim at nothing and you’ll get nothing.
Go with the current and hope it all works out, and you’ll surely drift. It’s the path of least resistance and the path of cowardice.
It takes courage to define the win. To create and commit to a future vision of where you want things to go. The full expression of your giftings and opportunities. The best use of your life to serve God.
It takes courage, because when it’s defined and out-there, you run the risk of all kinds of possible negative outcomes.
Disappointment
Loss
Failure
Criticism
Frustration
Delays
Setbacks
They’re all on the table. The cost of admission for being in the arena. All a part of running to win versus the passive participation of drifting through life.
It takes courage to run to win. To live on purpose, to determine the best use of your life for eternity.
If we’re going to live and lead on purpose, we can’t run aimlessly.
Find the courage and run to win. As you go through the rest of your week, here’s my challenge to you.
Prayerfully decide what your win is in your:
Relationship with God
Marriage
Parenting
Career
Finances
Physical Health
I know of no on purpose leader who settles for someone else’s win in these critical areas.
Everybody runs.. few run to win.
