Take Charge

Scripture

“Prosper… Take Charge” (Genesis 1:28)

Thought

Something has been off!

With each passing week I have felt this growing internal tension between how I have been showing up each day and how I desire to show up each day.

My vision of self is being slowly eroded by reality. My initial response was to assume I was broken and needed to be fixed! Asking questions like, “What is wrong with me?” Which only led me down a path of unproductive self-pity.

Fortunately, I stumbled upon a more transformational question. A question that reminded me of my agency. That question is, “What are your non-negotiables?” Non-negotiables are defined as reoccurring actions taken to move us closer to our wants and dreams.

If I’m being honest, I was mortified by what this exercise has revealed about me. I was doing very little to become the person I have been telling myself I am aspiring to be. This process eventually led me to open my bible and read this verse, which revealed my “AHA!” moment.

The truth that life left to drift will always lead us towards discouragement, and that the only way to prosper is to take charge. Drift is a real threat to the transformational leadership lifestyle.

We’re called to subdue Drift, not succumb to it.
